Hi guys, I just recently bought the new XBOX 360 slim by trading it in for my perfect XBOX Elite. The new slim is sweet and all but the top where the big vent is is getting really hot. Not really hot I guess, but like 80-90 degrees or so. There haven’t been any issues so far (I’ve only had it for a day), but is this normal? I mean my Elite was almost cold after I played on it for 5 hours! Please help me! Thank you?

if you wan to surpass the time limit but you’re scared it will overheated.
so , try to cool it !
play it in air-conditioner room or perhaps get a fan blowing it all times
overheating is normal actually, but we always misthink that it would spoil

It freezes on new games. I did the qtip overheating trick 2 times on my xbox now it just freezes whenever i play a new game.

well you might need a new xbox but get rid of all the dust inside the xbox with a hover if you use it on its side move it or if its near a tv or dvd player the magnets can play up and cause problems so try that but you might just need a new one.

I’ve had my xbox since 2005, and never had any problems with red lights. Unfortunately, in the past month, my xbox has overheated (two red lights) five times. I’ve tried placing a fan near it, and I’ve never EVER have placed it in a cluttered area. Obviously it’s out of warranty, and money is tight.

Is there any way to fix this problem besides buying a new xbox?

it may be the fans. they may not be as effiecent as you need them becuase of your play time. try putting up on like a small table and have a small fan blowing on it while playing. good luck!

it gets a flashing red light in the middle and says "shutting down due to insufficient ventalation", but its well ventalated, is the power brick the one overheating, or no, and how can i fix it, i dont really want to spend 600 dollars to fix say, a warped pad inside, so is it even worth fixing?

I had a similar question this week. during the process of attempting to look the solution I ended up getting a free Xbox 360 with Kinnect from 1stmskinnectnetwork.tk!! my xbox with Kinnect is scheduled for delivery in 4 days and i’m so happy!!

My xbox 360 overheats every time i play it after like 15 min i even opened it up and dusted the entire thing then i let it play open with out a case and completely in the open air and it still overheats i found that the tallest grill thing in the box right next to the fans are the things that get hot and get really hot at that but i dont know what to do please help
The xbow is old ive had it for like 3 years or so but the warenty already expired i had it fixed a little while ago but this is a different problem then b4

I was going to say call 18004myxbox but since you opened the console you voided the warranty.

Still you can call them, but its going to cost money to repair it.

Is their a quick fix to this problem it mostly happens on black ops, which is the only game i am playing at the moment so i want get it fixed, could go professional but wondering if their are any quick/cheap fixes i could use?

My son uses a xbox cooling fan which seems to help.

I’ve had an xbox 360 since 2008 and it’s never shown signs of overheating. It’s cold to the touch after 3 hours of play. Is the complaint of overheating due to people mistreating the xbox. Like leaving it on the floor with clothes on it for example. There is even reports of the xbox slim overheating. I’m pretty sure thats 99.9% the owner’s fault as Microsoft redesigned it to run cooler.

The user can always create situations which cause the hardware to fail. Ventilation is key to avoiding this problem. I think you’d really have to try to overheat the slim version. As they improve on the processor design, they chip gets smaller, draws less power, and therefore generates less heat. So the newer the model of 360, the less likely it is to overheat.

i huv Xbox 360 and it overheated once and i got it fixed but im afraid if it overheat again what can i do to Not overheat again should i buy a Cooler idont care if it will avoid my warranty.. and people please dont say buy a ps3 or sumshit like that coz im not a PS fan okay thnx..

First of all, it voids the warranty, not avoids it. Two completely different words. The Nyko Intercooler EX is the best one.

I just got it like 3 day ago and I fell asleep while watching a movie on netflix last night. It was still on when I woke up. I turned it off. Then I went to school. When I got home from school I Tryed to turn it on and the normally green dot came on but it immediately turned red, and stayed red. I’ve Tryed taking the hard drive out and putting it back in but that didn’t work. The worst part is my black ops disc is in there and I can’t get it out. Is there a quick fix for this? Please help!

The Xbox Live update on November 1, 2010 caused a large number of Xbox 360 to stop reading official discs and only give an "open tray" message on even non-modded consoles. Microsoft still hasn’t fixed the issue. There is also a new January 19, 2011 update that is now also giving people similar problems.

My xbox overheats after only 30 minutes of playing black ops, but i can play other games for hours without it overheating. i tried every other game i own, but its only overheated while playing black ops.

same thing happened to me. download the game to your hard drive and you should be ok
