Will my xbox 360 overheat?
i have a xbox 360 and i want to know if it could overheat, its about 3 feet from my radiator, the radiator is below and the xbox is on top, and i cant move it anywere else and i dont have ventelation is this bad?

btw, i dont have a fan in the room and i play about 1-4 housr sometimes and i stop for the day or sometimes i stop for a few hours and play for another 2

what system do u have?
360 arcade- thats really bad because they destroy easy
360 pro- thats kinda bad ur taking a risky shot.
360 elite- not too bad because it has a falcon chip in it but u still are sorta taking a risk.

I also read this, it seems to be related to the way that it leeches power from the power brick before it makes it to the Xbox itself (which isn’t a good thing in itself!).

is it ok to lay my xbox 360 down flat on a wood table then put my ps3 slim on top of it? will the ps3 block the fans and make it overheat?

I wouldn’t do that bc the whole point of keeping a system cool is to make it go faster and leave it bye it self is a good start, so that it can absorb cold air from all possible directions. But with your way they will throw heat at each other. Plus they will to some extent store each others heat signature. Its really like sleeping with one blanket under and above, you will probably sweat like crazy and pretty sure uncomfortable after awhile.

I’m thinking of selling my xbox 360 with games I don’t want to purchase this system for fear of mine overheating again, also it looks awesome and I could use a new headset and more memory.

Yes, it has happened to me. It happened actually after playing for just over an hour. Piece of crap. Wait till they fix the bugs, then buy it.

its brand new never played but i hear people say after like a couple years it gets the rings of death and overheats and needs fixing but im only going to play a couple times a day and an hour and a half at the most each time and not every single day. will it last longer or still a couple of years

It is really just luck but if it is brand new you should have no problem…They fixed this about 2 years after the first ones came out so no worries!!

I was reading reviews on the Nyko fan and I was wondering, does the 360 really overheat? Do you really need the fan, or can you just get a stand alone fan and have it blow on it. The Nyko fan isnt covered by the Xbox warrenty and I have read some horror stories on the fan so idk if I should get the fan or not

Any system could if you keep it enclosed and away from an air circulation. But the 360 does not when out on a table or entertainment center. Just make sure the power supply or 360 isn’t on the carpet and the 360 has ample circulation.
I play mine all the time sometimes for hours and have never had a problem and I got mine on launch day.

depends what it’s doing. If you are trying to overheat it so you can tighten the heatsinks/chips down a little more secure, then it’s best to connect the DVD drive and start up a 3D game. The more effects, the faster it will overheat.

It also varies depending on which model of the 360 you are using. The newer, lower wattage 360’s take quite a bit longer than the older versions.. So sake of example though, I’ve had an old 360 over heat within 30 seconds- 2 minutes with no fan. I’ve had a newer model take almost 15 minutes, and that’s using a game to help speed up the process.

I bought mine in December 2008. It the 60 GB xbox 360 with the HDMI jack, so its not the first xbox 360s to come out. I’ve never had a problem with it, but I have 10 friends with xbox 360’s and all of them had to replace their xbox atleast once. I’m a bit worried I’ll have this problem eventually.

I faced same kind of problem in my DELL inspiron 1525. Actually your ‘thermistor’ , which is on motherboard , is damaged. There are 2 or more thermistor on motherboard. You have to check the voltage through every one and have to replace one or more. I would suggest you to go to a laptop hardware repairing shop and get the thermistor changed. I have to pay Rs. 1000 for this and now my laptop is working fine.

It really depends on what kind of Xbox you have. If you have an old Xbox 360 elite you need the external fan to cool it. if it’s a pro or arcade then make sure the fan works properly. If that still does’nt work you need an external fan. They sell for about 20$ at Gamestop.
