I’ve had an xbox 360 since 2008 and it’s never shown signs of overheating. It’s cold to the touch after 3 hours of play. Is the complaint of overheating due to people mistreating the xbox. Like leaving it on the floor with clothes on it for example. There is even reports of the xbox slim overheating. I’m pretty sure thats 99.9% the owner’s fault as Microsoft redesigned it to run cooler.

The user can always create situations which cause the hardware to fail. Ventilation is key to avoiding this problem. I think you’d really have to try to overheat the slim version. As they improve on the processor design, they chip gets smaller, draws less power, and therefore generates less heat. So the newer the model of 360, the less likely it is to overheat.

i huv Xbox 360 and it overheated once and i got it fixed but im afraid if it overheat again what can i do to Not overheat again should i buy a Cooler idont care if it will avoid my warranty.. and people please dont say buy a ps3 or sumshit like that coz im not a PS fan okay thnx..

First of all, it voids the warranty, not avoids it. Two completely different words. The Nyko Intercooler EX is the best one.

what are the bad thing that your new Xbox 360 have done or that you notice
cause i bought mine in thanksgiving and so far its all good and its my first Xbox ever
so i am pretty happy with it but u know nothing is perfect

it wont overheat, it has many fans installed within it, they fixed all the problems the original xbox 360 had. so no more 3 red rings,2 red rings, or all those hardware problems:):):):):)

How much play time would it take to break/overheat an Xbox 360?

it depends, me and my dad play call of duty all day from 6am to 8pm. so 14 hours of constant play but we only do this about twice a week with a fan blowing on it so i would say if you played all day for a week without a fan on it it would overheat eventually

lm thinking off getting a xbox 360 l was gearing it overheats

Ya thats the biggest problem with 360, it does overheat and then it results on "The ring of Death" and then you have to send it in to MS. They give you a 3 year warranty, but still you have to wait up to a month to get your system back. They are introducing cooler running CPU’s and GPU’s to see if that helps but those are expected to be released in early 08. I would suggest going on to xbox.com forums and reading up all you can there to get the latest info. Heres a good post

How many hours is too much for the xbox 360 everyday. I don’t want it to overheat or get the ring of death so whats the minimum or safe amount of hours to play everyday to keep a xbox forever!

i fixed the rrod and now as soon as power it up it instantly overheats what can i do to fix this??? i cleaned the cpu and gpu with rubbing alcohol and used articsilver 5 to reapply the thermal compound why does my consoul do this?????? please help!

Dude. That shit is going to explode.

Find an extension cord and plug it in outside to fix it but protect yourself by wearing flame retardant pillows since the alcohol you cleaned it with is highly flammable.

supposedly its 8 hours, I have played mine in excess of 10 hours and it has not overheated come to think of it mine has never overheated

i got a xbox 360 pro and im wondering how easy it will overheat

just buy an intercooler for it. it’s about 20 bucks I think. it adds three extra fans to the back. I’ve had mine now for about a year and a half and it’s never overheated.
