My xbox 360 overheats every time i play it after like 15 min i even opened it up and dusted the entire thing then i let it play open with out a case and completely in the open air and it still overheats i found that the tallest grill thing in the box right next to the fans are the things that get hot and get really hot at that but i dont know what to do please help
The xbow is old ive had it for like 3 years or so but the warenty already expired i had it fixed a little while ago but this is a different problem then b4

I was going to say call 18004myxbox but since you opened the console you voided the warranty.

Still you can call them, but its going to cost money to repair it.

From someone who owns both systems I must sadly agree with you (but your statement still made me laugh). I first had a 360 and then I got a PS3 and when I started up my PS3 for the first time I was like, "HOLY **** THIS IS QUIET". XD

I just got xbox live and I moved my xbox from the basement to my room. It keeps going to 2 red rings on the xbox.

Okay i can help you with this one. Okay i have been many of these types of questions before and there likely the same and i will gladly help you with this.

these are some tips on what to do to keep your xbox 360 cool.

- Always keep the console flat, Reason: not blocking the major air vent at the bottom of the Xbox 360 console.

- Always clean your Xbox 360 console with a dry cloth to keep it clean from dust etc. reason: is clean and prevents over heating.

- Always download games to the hard drive, Reason: less heat that the Xbox 360 console gives off and quieter, Reason: less heat and less noise.

- hav the console rise up 1 inch from the hard surface having the 2 bottom small vents sticking out, basically put something under it until gets to the feet pads, Reason: all air vents are not blocked and more air can go into the Xbox 360 console to keep it cool.

These are all ways to have your Xbox 360 console not overheat.

No the PS3 dose not over heat like 360 did. I have heard on a PS3 video that they put small fans in it like 3 or 4 that help keep it cool.

It gets 2-ring after around 15 minutes of play time, i have a fan next to it and it is well ventilated so i don’t understand why i keep getting 2-ring. Please help
Its on a wood surface and i got 3-ring on my old xbox 360 and got it replaced a year ago

this has worked for me every time unplug all the cords on your xbox and get either a good can of air duster or an air compressor (i use the air compressor) and blow your xbox out blow the compressor into all the vents and make shure you get them all then plug every thing back in and try it again

Don’t take the advice of the previous poster.

Don’t buy the intercooler. It’s not a Microsoft certified accessory and could possibly void your warranty.

Three things you can do to keep your xbox from over heating is the following:

-Limit your gaming sessions (play for an hour, take a 15 min break [this is healthy anyways...])
-Pick your xbox up off the ground, and don’t lay it on carpet or any fabric. Lay it on some metal or wood, but metal is better.
-Get a fan and aim it at your Xbox. It’ll force air through it instead of relying on the fans so much to maintain airflow.

i have two different xboxes, and im just wondering why these two surge breakers are different.

the grey box that plugs into the wall then the xbox with a seperate cord.

Any ways i have two surge breakers one is a 150 watt the other is a 175 watt, just wondering what the difference between the two is? * besides the obvious * was one or the other created to fix an issue of some sort?

If so which one is best to use?

*for now using the ones that match up to the xbox they came from*

I’m sure they just started making stronger surge breakers (bricks) to help fix some of the hardware and overheating issues that they were having so much of to begin with. I’m sure using either/or for either xbox should be fine. I’m no electrician or anything but I am pretty sure the higher the watts the more it will help keep the xbox running smoothly

how can you tell if your xbox is over heating and what should you do

If you have one of the new Xbox S’s, then it will give a warning then power off.

However the older Xbox’s won’t turn off, so you’ll need to manage the time that you spend per gaming session.

A few other notes:
Buying and using the Intercooler that MadCatz or whoever makes is not good. Since it’s not an Microsoft certified accessory, it will void your warranty.

Don’t lay your Xbox on the carpet or any other fabric. They retain heat which isn’t good.
Find a different surface; wood is good, but metal is better.
