And i am asking if it will. Because I just now have the NXE dashboard, and searched it up on youtube, and i looked at the comments, and this one guy said that it will get really hot in seconds. Is that true?

The dashbaord doesn’t cause the RRoD. Whoever told you that doesn’t know what they’re talking about. I’ve had both the old dash and the new one; my old 360 red ringed on the original dash and my replacement red ringed on the NXE one.

Yes its does, tho Microsoft have put a falcon chip into the newer 360’s to prevent it.
Up to this date they haven’t fixed the problem permanently.

The only question i have is if the slim can completely die to the point where I need to send it in, or will it just shut down when it gets too hot, and then I can play again after it cools down. Either way I would still get an extended warranty, but I just want to make sure I get all my facts before I go and buy one. And all of you PS3 fans don’t bother telling me to not buy one because you think that the PS3 is better, they are both solid systems.

From what I’ve seen it shuts itself down and goes into this warning screen that says your XBOX is overheating. It’s already happened to people and there are vids of it on youtube, the vids are 100% legit. That would be a real pain in the as$ halfway through a game on in the middle of online matches. There have been some reported problems with the power brick as well or the XBOX just not powering on.

Just contact customer support and they should fix the unit for free. Microsoft has extended their warranty to a full year for everyone.

Get on the phone and they will have you go through some troubleshooting. If they can’t get it up and running, they will send out a box for you to return the unit to them for repair.

A friend of mine just did this. He shipped his to Texas and got it back working like new in just over a week.

Alright first off you absolutely under NO circumstances want to use an attachment fan( i have mention this because i have a pretty good idea that someone is going to suggest this like dunce). The extra power required to keep the fan going causes more damage then good.

Now with that out of the way i can say with about 85-90% probability that the reason the Xbox 360 is overheating is most likely due to massive amount of dust and grime that had built up within the system over time and prevents the Xbox’s internal fans from doing it’s job because of the blockage.

2 ways you could fix this.

1. is an official way (in case you want to save your warranty on the Xbox just get a keyboard style dust blower with the nozzle and a powerful house vacuum and use both at the same time. The blower will essentially break apart all the blockage that within the system and the vacuum will suck everything in. If even after this process you still can’t prevent overheating i would suggest sending it in to microsoft to have it opened up.

2. Now the second step is only if you don’t care about the Xbox warranty and don’t mind opening you system up. After opening the system up (lots of guides on Youtube on how to do this) you go straight to the fan area and you should see lots of dust balls or gunk near the fan area. Clear all of it out manually and it should allow the xbox to breath freely again without any complications.

make sure it is in a very open space, no confinement. make sure to blow out the vents on everything even the power supply to rid the vents of dust. dust around the area of the system and power supply. also make sure your room is cool enough because if it gets too warm it doesn’t matter what you do it’ll still overheat.

The ventilation system didn’t have anything to do with the problem you are most likely referring to.

That had to do with the way the components were actually held together, and yes, heat had to do with it. The heat from an XBOX and where it vents it hasn’t changed.

But, the way they assemble them has. Since XBOX’s come from one place, and that place has stopped making them the "old way", not even Wally World could get ahold of one to put on their shelves.

Simply put, you should be fine when it comes to that problem. You may run into something else though…
