This is what I’ve done to my console to keep it cool and I use it up to 24 hour periods without lockups or anything.

!ST thing you do is put it sitting horizontally. This is one of the secrets that nobody really tells about keeping the console cool. It vents better this way.

2nd thing is that prop it up on something like 2 VHS tapes so that the vent holes on the bottom suck in cooler air. Also…be sure to have the console not touching any "walls" on the sides because the main vent intake is on the right of the system. One reason consoles RROD in the versicle position is that the intake is blocked because the console sits on the intake then.

#rd thing you want to do is get a intercooler. I recommend getting several fans from PC’s (can be bought at the nearest BEST BUY or RADIOSHACK) and wire them up to a switch to put near the rear of the system to "suck" out hot air. For more tips on the 360…email me…I repair them.

    only one tur answer

use it opened, no supèrior cover, hrizontal position.

    bad look for you?

then don`t mod it and wait for your turn to get it to ms warranty, and please don’t use it for long periods (longer than 2 hpurs) it is a home console, not made for all-day use.

why I tell u this?,, i’m a repairer of that white box of bubblgum, and even me, I’ve got mine cracked after about a year of near non-use. less than 1 hour a week.. and even doing so….

as addicting as games can be, just try not to play it all day and keep nothing under it and around it so its fans can work to their fullest

don’t ever move it with a game inside

try not to move it as much as possible either

put it on a flat surface and if you have any pets, keep it off the floor since cats sometimes like to rub up against xboxs

Okay, the way it is positioned has NO bearing on it red ringing. It is almost never a human error that causes a RRoD. The cause of RRoD is the older Xenon motherboards: the placement of the dvd drive on top of the GPU which caused overheating. The new Jasper motherboards have mostly remedied this. Check out the March 09 issue (#94) of OXM for a very detailed explanation and also ways to see if your 360 has the new motherboard. The best way to prevent the RRoD? Buy a new 360 and check the box to see if it’s a Jasper.

Well I heard that Microsoft has built a brand new chip called the ‘Jasper Chip" which makes the 360 almost impossible to get the RROD.

Place the 360 laying down, thats how I have mine and its fine.
