Xbox 360 overheating.?

<< Uncategorized  Uncategorized >>

I recently had an e74 error on my xbox 360 but fixed it by cleaning both the gpu and cpu and applying a new coat of thermal paste. but now it overheats about 5 mins after i turn it on. what gives?? i thought both the thermal paste a heat sink would be enough to cool both the GPU and CPU off. I have the xbox completely coverless so more air can circulate. any other ideas on how to fix this???
It is only for overheating. I get 2 red lights. That’s It

Well an E74 error can also mean that the hard drive is messed up. Overheating is shown with the 2 left red lights flashing so you may have done all that and voided your warranty for nothing. I usually suggest removing the hard drive and seeing if the error goes away, but you may have now caused it to start overheating.

m with Blah Blah- plus the $94 plus tax and shipping and handling for voiding the warranty if it still has any.

Well, there is not much you can do now since you opened your 360 up yourself. You have voided the warranty and Microsoft will not help you. The work you have done yourself on the console might make it unrepairable, so your best option might be to buy a 360 Arcade since you already have many of the components that are considered a necessity. An Arcade costs $199.99 and may very well be cheaper considering what type of work would need to be done on your console, plus you know that you are receiving a working console that is under warranty by Microsoft.
