How do I fix my Xbox 360 from over heating?

<< XBox Overheating  how do you prevent your xbox 360 from over heating? >>

My xbox 360 got two red lights on the front around the power button so I know that it overheated. How can I manually fix my 360 without sending in in to get it repaired somewhere else?

Wait a while let it cool down

Keep it in a cool place and make sure there is a foot between any opening and a wall or other obstruction. If you look under the console (when it’s horizontal you will see 2 slots on the bottom that are used for cooling. Put 2 big books under there but make sure sure the book edges don’t extend out to the edge because it will cover the vents, the idea is to elevate it so that the cooling vents are free to blow out warm air, but don’t make the books too narrow or the unit will fall. Phone books centered under the unit work nicely.

My 360 used to go 9 months before failing. When I last sent it in they put an additional heat sink in it and it’s still going strong 14 months later.

Ahhh. The one failing of the Xbox lol. Both of the above work or you could open it up and either solder more fans onto the motherboard were the others connect. Or you could reprogram the chip that conroles the fans so they always run on full speed. But that’s not easy and voids the warenty.
